Networking Event: Living With Purpose

Carnegie Lake in Princeton

Please join us on October 11 at Tigerlabs, 252 Nassau Street in Princeton. This is a networking event featuring several speakers scheduled to present how purpose impacts our daily decisions and ultimate longevity. Purpose is one of the Power 9 healthy lifestyle habits shared by people who have lived the longest in Blue Zones, as detailed in the books and research by Dan Buettner: “Knowing your sense of purpose is worth up to seven years of extra life expectancy.”

Room to Read volunteers and supporters will share the story of Room to Read’s roots and accomplishments. John Wood set out to emulate the efforts of Andrew Carnegie a century before him. Carnegie established 2500 free public libraries in North America. Room to Read has built libraries and laid the foundation for literacy in 20,000 communities in Africa and Asia. Wood released his third book earlier this year: Purpose, Incorporated, Turning Cause Into Your Competitive Advantage.

“As with corporations, living a purpose-filled life is the crucial first step to changing the world. You don’t have to quit your job to change the world. You need to find values you hold dear.” – John Wood

October 11 is International Day of the Girl, celebrated by the fact that Room to Read has sponsored over 50,000 girls through secondary school, a crucial time when girls in low income countries are forced to drop out of school for cultural and economic reasons. This year’s Day will focus on child marriage, which is a fundamental human rights violation and impacts all aspects of a girl’s life.

Room to Read is a global organization transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. We welcome you to join us on 10/11 at Tigerlabs, Princeton’s First Entrepreneurship Center to network and learn more about a global org founded by one of the first social entrepreneurs, John Wood. Room to Read invites you to an evening of networking, socializing and recognizing the power of purpose in your life, your work and your investments. www.roomtoread.org
