Advancing Opportunities Names New Members to Board of Directors

Christina Spinelli has been named to the Board of Directors of Advancing Opportunities.

February 5, 2019, Ewing, NJ – Hamilton Township residents Christina Spinelli and Jeff Hurley have been added to the Board of Directors of Advancing Opportunities, a leading provider of services and supports to people with disabilities across the State.

As young leaders in the business community, Spinelli and Hurley are expected to bring a new perspective and new energy to the Board of Directors of the 69 year-old agency. Their extensive community involvement and strong business relationships will help Advancing Opportunities continue the exponential growth it has experienced over the last six years.

Christina Spinelli has spent her career in the banking industry. Currently a Vice President at Berkshire Bank, she has also been a top producer for TD Bank and Commerce Bank before that. She plays a prominent role in the community. A past chair of the Membership Committee for the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce, Christina has been an active member of the RWJ Hamilton Foundation Young Professionals Group. In fact, that group has named her this year’s Young Professional of the Year.

Jeff Hurley is the Chief Operating Officer/General Manager of the Trenton Thunder. A former standout baseball player at Steinert High School, Hurley started with the Thunder during the 2004 season as an intern and worked his way up through the ranks. At the close of the 2018 season, he was named Executive of the Year by the Eastern League. Also a member of the RWJ Hamilton Foundation Young Professionals Group and past Young Professional of the Year, Jeff sits on the Boards of the Hamilton Area YMCA and the Miracle League of Mercer County and the Executive Leadership Committee of the American Heart Association.

Jeff Hurley has been named to the Board of Directors of Advancing Opportunities.

Both Hurley and Spinelli have expressed a desire to learn more about the unique challenges facing the disabilities community in New Jersey, as well as the innovative ways Advancing Opportunities is responding to those challenges.

“As our funding model continues to change and our challenges related to staffing continue to grow, we need a fresh perspective from our leadership,” said Advancing Opportunities CEO Jack Mudge. “Jeff and Christina bring business savvy, strong community relationships, and a passion for serving people with disabilities to our agency. We are grateful they are part of the team as we look to the future and pursue our mission of achieving full societal participation for all people with disabilities.”

Advancing Opportunities is a leading provider of services and supports for people with disabilities. The organization promotes independence through programs that include residential housing, career development, community supports and assistive technology.
